Arriving In Oklahoma

Dear Parents:

Your missionary daughter has safely arrived here with us in Oklahoma (see attached photo for proof!) and is now out in the field having her first experiences as a missionary! We were thrilled to meet her and the other new missionaries at the airport where we found them all a little tired, from their early morning wakeup, but excited and ready to take on the experience that will shape every significant thing that will happen to them for the rest of their lives.

Your missionary daughter has been prayerfully assigned a trainer who will be training and mentoring her in her first area (see trainer’s name and their assigned area below). We will be meeting again with them both within a couple of weeks in a zone conference to provide additional training.  Additional future meetings, including weekly district councils, we will also provide your missionary with ongoing support, encouragement and training.

In the meantime, to help us ensure as smooth a transition as we can for your missionary, we also kindly remind you of the following matters:

Insurance. We anticipate that your missionary will have brought with her an insurance verification card or copy certifying that she has medical insurance. Please be sure, on your end, to change the address for your missionary with your insurance provider to the Mission Office address (currently 15700N. Pennsylvania Avenue, Edmond, OK 73013) so that she will be covered in Oklahoma. As you probably know, the Church has a Missionary Medical Department that will provide coverage, as a secondary provider, for your missionary’s medical needs for the duration of her missionary service. However, please note that Missionary Medical does not provide any coverage for any pre-mission conditions. We will remind her to always present the family insurance first.

Communications. As you’re no doubt aware, your missionary may communicate with you on their weekly preparation day via letters, emails, text messages, online messaging, phone calls and video chat. We are aware that some of our missionaries choose not to call or video chat with their parents every week; for our part, we leave that decision up to them. We will, however, encourage your missionary to contact you on special occasions such as Christmas, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and your birthdays. We kindly ask that you allow your missionary to initiate all text message conversations, online messaging, phone calls and video chats. If you want to initiate contact with your missionary through those means, or if you have any other questions, please contact President Christensen directly at 405-590-7192.

Thank you again for sharing your daughter with us and with the wonderful people in the Oklahoma Oklahoma City Mission. We love her already and feel privileged to work side by side with her in this sacred work of the Lord.

Warm regards,

President and Sister Christensen
